Where to Find Audit Logs

MyDentalPractice logs all significant user actions for security, compliance, and accountability.

Accessing Audit Logs

Navigate to Settings → Activity Log (requires Admin or Owner role).

What Gets Logged

Authentication Events

  • User login (successful and failed attempts)
  • Login location and device information
  • Password changes
  • 2FA setup and verification
  • Account lockouts
  • Patient Record Access

  • Patient record viewed
  • Patient record created or edited
  • Medical history updated
  • Documents uploaded or downloaded
  • Records exported
  • Appointment Actions

  • Appointment created, rescheduled, or cancelled
  • Status changes (checked in, completed, no-show)
  • Walk-in registrations
  • Billing Actions

  • Invoice created, sent, or cancelled
  • Payment recorded
  • Refund processed
  • Insurance claim submitted
  • Administrative Actions

  • User invited, role changed, or removed
  • Settings modified
  • Clinic profile updated
  • Data exported
  • Filtering Logs

    Use the filter panel to narrow results:

  • Date Range — Select start and end dates
  • User — Filter by team member
  • Action Type — Login, View, Create, Edit, Delete, Export
  • Module — Patients, Appointments, Billing, Settings
  • Patient — Activity related to a specific patient
  • Log Details

    Click any log entry to see full details:

  • Timestamp — Exact date and time (in WAT)
  • User — Who performed the action
  • Action — What they did
  • Details — Specifics (e.g., which patient record, what was changed)
  • IP Address — Where the action originated
  • Device — Browser and operating system
  • Exporting Logs

    Click Export to download audit logs as CSV. This is useful for:

  • Regulatory compliance audits
  • Internal security reviews
  • Investigating suspected unauthorized access
  • Retention

    Audit logs are retained for:

    PlanRetention Period
    Starter90 days
    Professional1 year
    Enterprise3 years
