How to Send Birthday Messages
Sending birthday greetings shows patients you care beyond their dental visits. MyDentalPractice can automatically send personalized messages on each patient's birthday.
Enabling Birthday Messages
Go to Settings → Patient Engagement → Birthday MessagesToggle Enable Birthday Messages to ONChoose the delivery channel: SMS, Email, or BothSet the send time (e.g., 9:00 AM on the patient's birthday)Customizing the Message
SMS Template
Default: "Happy Birthday, [Patient Name]! Wishing you a wonderful day from all of us at [Clinic Name]. Here's to another year of healthy smiles!"
Customize at Settings → Patient Engagement → Birthday Messages → SMS Template.
Email Template
The email template supports rich formatting:
Add your clinic logoInclude a birthday image or graphicOptionally include a birthday discount or offerAdd a booking link for their next visitBirthday Discounts (Optional)
Create a special birthday offer:
In the birthday message settings, toggle Include Birthday OfferSet the discount type: percentage or fixed amountSet the discount value (e.g., 10% off or ₦2,000 off)Set the validity period (e.g., valid for 30 days from birthday)The discount code is automatically included in the messageRequirements
Birthday messages only send to patients who have:
A date of birth recorded in their profileA valid phone number (for SMS) or email address (for email)Not opted out of marketing communicationsViewing Birthday Activity
Check Communications → Birthday Messages to see:
